MCRRC's established trail event gives marathoners a full-distance option on the Seneca Creek Greenway. The marathon and 50K share the day but retain separate distances and result sets.
Course
The route uses wooded greenway trail in Montgomery County, where roots, rocks, stream-area mud and repeated turns interrupt any road-like rhythm. Trail awareness matters throughout the full distance.
Race-day weather
Early March in Maryland may be cold, mild, wet or all three during one race. Recent rain can soften the greenway and deepen muddy patches, while bare trees leave some stretches exposed to wind.
