About the Run the River Marathon
This race is aimed at runners who want speed without giant-race sprawl. The Tri-Cities setting keeps logistics manageable, and the Columbia River backdrop gives the day more character than a generic fast suburban course.
Course
The route uses paved paths and roads through Kennewick, Richland, and Pasco while staying close to the Columbia for much of the day. It is flat enough to attract qualifier attempts, but the scenery and riverfront setting keep it from feeling sterile.
Race-day weather
Mid-April in the Tri-Cities is often cool and dry at the start, with sun becoming the bigger issue later. Wind can also shift quickly in open river sections, so a calm morning is worth using well.
