Course
The course is built for speed, with a flat profile and long runnable sections through Jersey City neighborhoods. It is not completely effortless, though. A few tighter or narrower spots can break rhythm, and the spectator-friendly design means you share parts of the city more than once.
Race-day weather
Mid-April near the Hudson can mean cool air and a crisp start, which usually helps more than it hurts. Wind is the bigger variable, especially on exposed stretches where the skyline does not block much.

Marathon Scout marks the Jersey City Marathon course as a Boston qualifier. Check the current Boston qualifying times and confirm current course certification with the race before registering. Starting with 2027 registration, the B.A.A. adds 5 minutes to times from courses with 1,500 to 2,999 feet of net downhill and 10 minutes to courses with 3,000 to 5,999 feet, and does not accept courses with 6,000 feet or more.
