Quick facts
- Certified Boston qualifier and one of the clearest Delaware state options.
- Start and finish at Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park.
- Route mixes downtown, parks, and historic neighborhoods.
- Good choice for runners chasing a smaller-city spring marathon.
Course
The course starts and finishes at Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park and moves through downtown, Brandywine Park, parkways, and historic neighborhoods. It is a city-tour course rather than a pure drag strip, with enough turns and variety to keep it interesting.
Race-day weather
Mid-April in Wilmington often means a cool start and comfortable first half, but spring wind can move through open sections and change the feel of the day. It is usually friendlier than later East Coast humidity.
About the Delaware Marathon
For runners collecting states or looking for a smaller spring qualifier, Delaware stands out because there are not many in-state alternatives. The event gives Wilmington a proper marathon weekend without losing the manageable scale of a regional race.
