Catalina Island Marathon is California's oldest trail marathon and the state's off-road marathon championship, according to the official race site. Course
The marathon starts in Two Harbors and finishes in Avalon on Catalina Conservancy roads and trails. Expect a rugged point-to-point course with sustained climbs, rolling dirt-road sections, open island exposure, and scenery that does not make pacing any easier.
Race-day weather
March on Catalina is usually milder than inland Southern California, but the course is exposed enough that sun and wind still matter. A cool start can turn into warmer, drier late-morning miles once the climbs and open sections add up.
