About the Redwood (Spring) Trail Run Marathon
The spring edition gives marathoners a full-distance trail option within easy reach of Oakland. The marathon is distinct from the same event's 5-mile, half, 30K and 50K divisions.
Course
Forest singletrack and park trails accumulate substantial elevation across the full marathon. Repeated climbs, descending turns and uneven footing matter more than road pace, while a generous cutoff supports steady trail effort.
Race-day weather
March in the East Bay hills may bring cool rain, mud and slick roots or a warm sunny afternoon. Redwood shade keeps some sections damp even after open trails begin to dry.
