About the Bridge2Bridge Run Half Marathon
This has been a Georgetown spring fixture for more than a decade, raising money for Friendship Place, a local nonprofit running meal, housing, and literacy programs. The half is the longest of three timed distances and the only one that leaves the historic district.
Course
Runners head out past the Winyah Indigo Society Hall, the Kaminski House, and the old county courthouse before the half splits off over the Sampit River bridge into Cravens Grant and back. Apart from the bridge approaches the course is flat, and the early start puts sunrise over Winyah Bay.
Race-day weather
Mid-March on the South Carolina coast usually brings a cool start in the 40s or low 50s. Wind off Winyah Bay is the variable worth planning for, and it bites hardest on the exposed bridge crossings.
