About the Wild Wild West Marathon
Lone Pine's spring trail weekend includes this distinctive marathon beside the Sierra Nevada. The full stands on its own within a program that also offers 10-mile, 50K and 50-mile challenges.
Course
The approximately 26.6-mile route runs through high-desert terrain around Lone Pine and the Alabama Hills, gaining roughly 3,000 feet. Loose footing, exposure and climbing make it a trail race first.
Race-day weather
May in the Owens Valley can start cool and become hot, sunny and dry, while mountain wind changes conditions quickly. Sun protection and disciplined hydration are essential in the exposed desert.
