About the Voet van Afrika Marathon
The Voet van Afrika weekend has long been a regional test for South African runners. Its full marathon crosses private and rural terrain before joining the finish celebrations in Bredasdorp.
Course
The route combines rough mountain paths, dirt roads, and paved closing miles. Significant early climbing and uneven descents punish road-only pacing, while the later run into town still demands leg speed.
Race-day weather
September in the Overberg can be cool, wet, and windy or sunny and warm. Mud and slippery rock become major factors after rain.
