About the Sportsmans Warehouse Winelands Marathon
Helderberg Harriers stages this established Cape road marathon with a half marathon and shorter race. It draws runners preparing for Comrades and Two Oceans as well as local finishers.
Course
Marathoners complete two rolling laps through the Stellenbosch and Somerset West winelands. Repeated hills make the second circuit much tougher if the first is rushed.
Race-day weather
Early November can be cool at dawn and warm quickly under Western Cape sun. Wind and an occasional shower also influence exposed vineyard roads.
