About the Bears Ears Marathon

This southeastern Utah road marathon connects Blanding and Bluff through wide-open canyon country. Its small field, shuttle logistics, and substantial net drop give it a very different feel from a city race.

Course

Runners start in Blanding and descend roughly 1,700 feet toward Bluff. The profile favors efficient downhill running, but the course remains exposed and the late miles can punish quads that were spent too early.

Race-day weather

November mornings can be below freezing before the desert warms quickly in direct sun. Dry air and wind increase fluid needs even when the temperature feels comfortable.
