About the Towpath Marathon
Canalway's signature marathon supports the Towpath Trail and Cuyahoga Valley heritage projects. The race offers a quieter alternative to a city marathon while remaining close to Cleveland.
Course
The certified course is predominantly flat and uses the historic towpath's firm crushed-limestone surface. Repeated trail sections simplify effort, though soft spots and narrow passing zones can cost time.
Race-day weather
Early October often brings cool running weather, but rain can soften the trail and increase humidity. Shaded canal sections may remain wet after surrounding roads dry.
