About the TopCity Half Marathon
Topeka's spring half is a compact city race built around the Kansas Avenue corridor. It draws a few hundred half marathoners each year alongside a companion 5K, which keeps the start manageable and the finish line busy without the logistics of a big-city weekend.
Course
The route leaves the 600 block of Kansas Avenue, works through older residential streets, and picks up the Shunga running trail before returning downtown. The early miles are tight, so seeded pacing matters more than usual. Aid comes roughly every two miles.
Race-day weather
Early May on the plains can swing from cool and damp to warm and breezy inside one morning. Wind across open street sections is usually the bigger factor than heat.
