The Hapalua pairs an approachable, no-time-limit format with a genuinely competitive front of the field. Waikiki energy, Pacific views, and a Kapiolani Park finish make it a strong destination half without marathon-scale recovery demands.
Course
The race starts by the Duke Kahanamoku statue in Waikiki and stays mostly flat through the first nine miles. A late climb around Diamond Head is followed by a descent to the finish in Kapiolani Park.

The start is often in the mid-60s Fahrenheit, with temperatures capable of reaching the low 80s later in the morning. Humidity and sun make conservative early pacing and regular fluids important.
