About the Santa to the Sea Half Marathon
Ventura County's holiday half has run since 2008 and funds gifts, food, and scholarships for local families through a toy drive that reaches thousands of kids. The route is built around county landmarks rather than a park loop, which is most of the reason runners come back to it.
Course
The point-to-point starts at the old Santa Claus statue beside Highway 101, runs through strawberry fields, downtown Oxnard, and Plaza Park, then passes the decorated houses on Candy Cane Lane before finishing at Marine Emporium Landing on the harbor. It is pan flat and trends toward the coast.
Race-day weather
Coastal Ventura County in December is mild, usually 50s with a marine layer early and sun later. Ocean air keeps the finish cool, while the inland farm miles in the middle can feel warmer than either end.
