Quick facts

  • Flat dirt fire road and trail, with an out and back on the Alameda Creek Trail.
  • Four hour time limit with an intermediate cutoff around mile nine.
  • Hiker division starts an hour early, before all aid stations are staffed.
  • Typical fields of roughly 90 to 140 half marathon finishers.

Course

A partial loop of the Quarry Lakes and then an out and back on the Alameda Creek Trail, on mostly hard packed dirt fire road with short paved sections at each end. Hills are essentially absent, which makes it one of the faster dirt halves in the Bay Area. A four hour limit applies with an intermediate cutoff near mile nine.

Race-day weather

Late November in Fremont usually means a chilly start in the 40s and a mild, dry finish. Fog can hang over the lakes early, and the exposed creek trail offers no shade once it burns off.

About the Quarry Turkey Half Marathon

The Saturday half of Brazen's two race Thanksgiving weekend in the East Bay, paired with a Thursday event for anyone chasing the connector medal. Fields sit around 100 to 140 half marathon finishers, small enough to feel like a trail race and organized like a road one.
