About the Run Mahomet Half Marathon

Run Mahomet has been a fixture in this town west of Champaign for more than 30 years, with all proceeds funding the Mahomet Area Youth Club. The half marathon leads a Saturday morning that also includes a 10K and 5K, following a Friday evening Main Street Mile.

Course

The certified course starts at Mahomet-Seymour High School and stays on flat small-town and rural roads. There is nothing on the profile to slow a time goal, which makes the August heat the main variable on race day.

Race-day weather

Central Illinois in early August is hot and humid. Even with a 7 a.m. start, temperatures near 70 and thick air are common, so realistic pacing and steady fluids matter more than the flat profile implies.
