About the Ria Formosa Half Marathon

Ria Formosa Half Marathon is a new Algarve road event organized by Xistarca with support from the Faro and Olhão councils and regional athletics bodies. The half has its own timed 21 km identity, separate from the 10K and untimed 4K on the same morning.

Course

The half starts at Largo de São Francisco in Faro, heads toward Olhão, turns near the market and returns west to finish at the Faro Athletics Track. The road route has three intermediate drink stations and a two-hour, 45-minute limit.

Race-day weather

Mid-November in Faro is usually mild, but the lagoon-side setting leaves the course open to coastal wind. Rain is possible, while direct heat is less likely than earlier in the Algarve season.
