About the Red Rock Canyon Marathon
Calico Racing's January event brings marathoners into Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. It is a scenic alternative to a city race, with controlled transportation and park logistics shaping the morning.
Course
The marathon climbs toward the summit overlook, descends toward the visitor center, then returns over rolling and hilly terrain. A seven-hour cutoff allows time, but the elevation changes punish an aggressive start.
Race-day weather
January mornings at Red Rock Canyon can be cold and windy before dry desert sunshine raises temperatures. Exposed pavement offers little shelter, and winter weather can occasionally reach the higher ground.
