About the Sun Marathon
Southern Utah's winter marathon offers a full-distance option centered on Santa Clara and the greater St. George area. The draw is a combination of qualification utility, open desert scenery, and a course designed to run quickly without being perfectly downhill.
Course
The marathon trends downhill but includes rollers and several climbs, so runners should not treat it as a continuous descent. The route passes red-rock mountains, Gunlock Reservoir, and a river corridor before reaching Santa Clara.
