Icebreaker Marathon

A January marathon in suburban New York is rare, and the Icebreaker leans into that winter niche inside Eisenhower Park. Repeated access to the central race area makes it practical for crews supporting marathoners over multiple laps.

The certified park course uses repeated loops, allowing runners to revisit aid and spectator areas throughout the marathon. A six-hour cutoff applies, and participants must begin their last lap before the late-race checkpoint.

January on Long Island can produce freezing temperatures, wind, rain, snow, or icy patches even when the event runs as scheduled. Repeated exposed sections make conservative clothing and footing choices important.
