Course
The route leaves Scissortail Park, crosses the Skydance Bridge, works through the lower park, then heads east onto the Oklahoma River trails. A clockwise loop through Regatta Park passes the boathouses before the return west. Total elevation change runs around 38 feet and the bridge is the only real climb, which means the last crossing drops downhill into the finish.
Race-day weather
Mid November mornings in Oklahoma City are cold at a 7:30 start, often in the 30s or 40s. Wind is the bigger variable than temperature, since the river trail miles are exposed and a breezy day changes the effort more than the forecast high does.
About the Prairie Line Half Marathon
Red Coyote Running built this race as the finish line for its half marathon training program, and it grew into one of the largest road halves in Oklahoma City. The name changed to Prairie Line, but the November slot, the Scissortail Park base, and the course carried over intact from the Red Coyote Half Marathon years.
