Paraty Brazil by UTMB PTR 108

PTR 108 begins in Paraty's historic center and pushes into the Atlantic Forest and Serra do Mar before returning to town. The race uses old mountain passages and the Caminho do Ouro to link colonial history, rainforest, and views near Pedra da Macela. It is a long tropical mountain ultra with a strong sense of place rather than a generic forest loop.

The 108-kilometer route gains about 4,850 meters and has a 30-hour cutoff. Runners climb from the coast into Serra do Mar, pass Pedra da Macela, and follow sections of the historic Caminho do Ouro. Steep forest trail, sustained climbing, and a nighttime start frame the return to Paraty's colonial center.

Paraty's coastal rainforest is humid, and rain can turn roots, stone, and forest trail slick. Temperatures are generally milder at night and at elevation, while lower sections can feel warm and muggy. Runners should prepare for wet footing, chafing risk, and changing conditions between the coast and mountain ridges.
