Quick facts

  • Start and finish in Luckenbach, the Hill Country hamlet behind the outlaw country music era.
  • 341 half marathon finishers in 2026, with published fields of 219 to 343 in recent years.
  • Entry includes a race tee, finisher medal, finish line meal and one beer for runners of age.
  • Post race party with Texas country music and an awards ceremony across all three distances.

Course

The half marathon starts at 8 a.m. and covers open Texas Hill Country country roads, rolling rather than flat, before finishing at the Luckenbach post office and general store. The 10K and 5K start behind it on the same roads. Fields are open and exposed, so wind and sun exposure matter more than any single climb.

Race-day weather

Mid April in the Hill Country is usually mild at the 8 a.m. start, in the 50s to low 60s, and warms quickly once the sun is up. Humidity can be high after a wet spring, and there is little shade on the country roads.
