About the Blue Bell Fun Run Half Marathon
The Blue Bell Fun Run has been a Washington County tradition since 1978, and the half marathon is a much newer addition to a lineup that still centers on the 5K and the kids' mile. Proceeds go toward youth programs in the county, and the field mixes committed road runners with local families.
Course
The certified 13.1 leaves Brenham High School and heads onto country roads through open pasture. There is very little flat ground; the route is either climbing or descending most of the way, and the last hill before the school parking lot is the one runners remember.
Race-day weather
Early April in central Texas can be pleasant or muggy. A 7:00 AM start usually means 55 to 70 degrees with high humidity, and the exposed pasture sections give almost no shade once the sun is up.
