About the Ohio's Backyard Ultra
Ohio's Backyard Ultra has developed into one of the stronger U.S. affiliate fields while retaining a close-knit host-site base. The course changes after dark, forcing runners to reset pacing and gear strategy.
Course
The daytime yard uses dirt, trail and grass with roughly 475 feet of climbing. At night the race moves to an asphalt and chip-seal loop with about 150 feet of gain, trading technical footing for repetitive road running.
Race-day weather
March in southern Ohio can swing between mild sun, cold rain and late snow. Mud may slow the daytime trail, while temperatures can fall sharply during the faster paved night yards.
