Banana Slug Backyard Ultra

Banana Slug Backyard Ultra is the unlimited last-person-standing race at Champoeg State Park, distinct from the separately capped Backyard 24. Runners start a 4.167-mile yard every hour until one person completes a loop alone.

The race has developed into a serious performance event while retaining a welcoming Oregon park setting. Covered staging, optional canopy space and a course change every twelve hours give runners a practical base for efforts that may continue through several nights.

The 4.167-mile day yard follows single-track through trees and beside the Willamette River. At night the race moves to a paved bike path, then alternates between the two every twelve hours; each loop has roughly 250 feet of gain.

Late April in the Willamette Valley is typically cool and changeable. Rain can make the trail slick, while overnight temperatures may fall sharply even after a mild afternoon.
