About the Nova Scotia Marathon

Southwest Nova Scotia's longstanding full marathon is rooted in Barrington Passage and the surrounding coastal communities. Its municipal backing, recent sellouts, and road-series presence give the race a strong regional identity beyond its scenery.

Course

The full uses rural secondary roads along the coast, mixing ocean views and open countryside with modest rolling hills. It is fundamentally a flat route, but the narrow shoulders and blind crests reward attentive pacing; supported course time is six hours.

Race-day weather

July on Nova Scotia's southwest shore can bring a cool or mild start, then warmer humid air as the morning develops. Ocean breeze may help with heat, while fog, showers, and exposed wind remain realistic pacing factors.
