About the Naperville Trails Half Marathon
All Community Events runs this one inside a DuPage County forest preserve, which keeps the whole race off traffic and on the preserve path network. It draws a mix of road runners looking for a soft-surface early-fall effort and newer trail runners who want something easier underfoot than singletrack.
Course
The start and finish sit near the Danada Equestrian Center off Naperville Road. Runners spend the day on smooth crushed limestone, with the northeast side of the preserve making up the long section, then finish on grass around the horse track. The route is USATF certified and flat enough that pacing comes down to footing and heat rather than climbing. The cutoff is 3 hours 30 minutes.
Race-day weather
Early September in northern Illinois often means a mild start in the 60s with real humidity attached. The limestone paths hold heat once the sun clears the treeline, so the second half usually feels warmer than the first.
