MoMoFo 100K

MoMoFo turns Morgan-Monroe State Forest into an overnight 100K, starting Friday evening so the field climbs through old growth timber, rock formations, and creek crossings in the dark. The format is rare in the Midwest, and the mix of hills, heat, and sleep deprivation makes the race harder than Indiana's flat reputation suggests. A 20 mile fun run follows on Saturday morning.

About 8,500 feet of climbing is packed into the 100K, with roughly 85 percent of the route on singletrack and short stretches of forest road and pavement connecting the trail. The 20-hour cutoff sounds generous, but night navigation and early-summer humidity slow nearly everyone. Expect repeated short, steep climbs rather than long grinding ascents.

The race starts in early June evening heat, often in the 80s with heavy humidity, then cools into the 60s overnight. The humidity rarely breaks, so fluid and electrolyte planning matters from the first climb onward.
