About the Long Grove's Oktoberfest Half Marathon
All Community Events has run a fall half in Long Grove for well over a decade, first as the Prairie State Half Marathon and now under the village's Oktoberfest banner. The historic downtown start and the post-race beer garden shape the day more than the clock does for most of the field.
Course
The route starts at Brothers' Field, tours downtown Long Grove, and spreads into the surrounding neighborhoods on paved streets. It carries a USATF certification, and the 10K and 5K run the same morning.
Race-day weather
Early October in Chicago's northern suburbs usually lands in the 40s to 60s. Crisp starts are common, and warm sun by mid-morning is about the worst most years throw at the race.
