About the Leave No Trace Half Marathon

Western Reserve Running has held this trail half at Camp Manatoc since 2013, making it one of the longer running trail races in northeast Ohio. The draw is access, since the camp's trail network is otherwise closed to the public. Fields sit around 120 to 160 finishers and the race anchors the organizer's Dirty Trail Series.

Course

Mostly single track through the wooded high plateau of a working Boy Scout camp, with the rooty, rolling character that comes with it. Trail runners should expect a slower pace than a road half and plan footing rather than splits. A 9 a.m. start and a 2 p.m. course close give a five hour window.

Race-day weather

Early September in the Cuyahoga Valley is often humid under tree cover, and the canopy keeps the trail damp after rain. Temperatures are usually mild, but the still air in the woods can make effort feel higher than the thermometer suggests.
