About the Horsetooth Half Marathon
Horsetooth has more than five decades of history and one of Colorado's most recognizable half-marathon layouts. Its early hills punish reckless pacing, while the brewery finish gives the point-to-point race a strong local identity.
Course
The point-to-point route climbs Centennial Drive along Horsetooth Reservoir, then turns downhill toward the Poudre River recreation trail. A net elevation loss does not make it easy because the largest work arrives early.
Race-day weather
Fort Collins in April can deliver a cold start, strong wind or rapid warming. The reservoir section is exposed, while the lower river trail can feel noticeably warmer late in the race.
