About the Bigfoot Half Marathon
Running Wild Events schedules this race to land inside the town's Bigfoot Days weekend, so the finish chute opens straight into a street festival with vendors, live music, and a local beer. It is a road half rather than a trail race, but altitude and climbing keep finish times well off sea-level equivalents.
Course
The half starts at the Estes Park Events Complex and runs paved roads just outside Rocky Mountain National Park before finishing downtown in Bond Park. About 1,050 feet of gain is spread across the distance, and for anyone arriving from lower ground the thin air matters more than the grade does.
Race-day weather
Late April in the Colorado high country is unpredictable. Starts near or below freezing are normal, the sun turns strong once it clears the ridgeline, and a heavy spring snowstorm is the one condition that cancels the race.
