Hofbräuhaus Cleveland Half Marathon

Hermes Sports and Events runs this one out of the Hofbräuhaus beer hall on Chester Avenue, and the post-race party is as much the point as the race. Field size has been steady between roughly 330 and 400 half marathon finishers since 2017, which keeps the start line manageable.

The start and finish sit on East 17th Street next to the beer hall, and the half runs a downtown Cleveland route with water every 2 miles plus gels and electrolyte at miles 6 and 8. A 3.5 hour limit applies, and the shorter distances start an hour later so the half has the roads first.

Early August in Cleveland is usually warm and humid by a 7 a.m. start, and lake air can keep moisture high even when temperatures are moderate. Downtown pavement holds heat, so the second half tends to feel harder than the first.
