Green Lake is Wisconsin's deepest inland lake, and the local group behind this race leans into the terrain that comes with it. The half has run in some form since 2016, took a pandemic-era break, and came back with fields around 100 to 135 finishers.
Course
The route leaves Town Square Terrace, works through town and wooded lanes, and takes an extended tour of the Green Lake Conference Center grounds above the shoreline. Climbs are short but frequent, which makes even pacing harder than the distance suggests. The course closes 3.5 hours after the first runner starts.
Race-day weather
Early September in central Wisconsin usually means a cool start in the 50s and a comfortable finish. Lake effect can add breeze on exposed shoreline sections, and the wooded stretches stay shaded.
