About the Last Call Half Marathon
Held out of the E.B. Shurts Building at Fox River Sanctuary, this closes the Waukesha racing year and now anchors a local winter run series. Half marathon fields have run between roughly 115 and 240 finishers, so the trail stays open even at the start.
Course
Flat crushed limestone and paved rail trail, out along the Fox River Trail and onto the Glacial Drumlin State Trail to a turnaround before MacArthur Road. There are no hills and almost no turns, which makes pacing simple and the wind the only real variable. An early start wave is available for slower runners.
Race-day weather
Early December in southeast Wisconsin is cold, often in the 20s or low 30s, with the possibility of snow cover or ice on the trail surface. Layering for a windy out and back matters more than the air temperature.
