About the Florida Halloween Distance Classic Half Marathon
Fort De Soto's park roads have hosted this Halloween morning race for more than a decade. Costumes are common enough that a contest runs alongside the awards, but the early gun is a concession to Gulf coast humidity rather than part of the theme.
Course
All three distances start and finish at North Beach inside Fort De Soto Park. The half marathon is a flat out and back on park roads and connecting paths, with tree cover through some stretches and open water on others.
Race-day weather
Late October on the Gulf coast is still warm and humid, often near 70 degrees when the half marathon goes off. Hydration planning matters far more here than anything the elevation profile does.
