About the Eastern States 100

Eastern States is a single-loop mountain 100 in the Pennsylvania Wilds. Entry requires prior ultra experience, reflecting a technical and remote course that is deliberately more demanding than a beginner 100-miler.

Course

The 103-mile loop is roughly 98 percent trail and gains more than 20,000 feet through the Pine Creek region. Rocks, roots, steep grades and limited access create a serious wilderness challenge.

Race-day weather

August in central Pennsylvania can be hot and humid, with thunderstorms or heavy rain changing trail conditions quickly. Overnight lows may help, but wet rock and roots raise technical risk.
