Quick facts
- Boston-qualifying road marathon.
- Hillier course than many spring city marathons.
- Strong neighborhood support and lots of on-course entertainment.
- Walkers are allowed, but there is no separate early start.
Course
The route is known more for hills than for easy PR math. The opening half asks plenty of your legs, then the course keeps changing character as it moves through different parts of the city instead of settling into one long flat rhythm.
Race-day weather
East Tennessee in mid-April can start cool and turn comfortable fast. If the sun is out, the second half can feel warmer than the early miles suggest, especially after climbing.
About the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon
This race shows off Knoxville more than it hides it. The field is large enough to feel like a real city weekend, but the event still leans local, with neighborhood support, volunteers, and course entertainment carrying the day.
