About the Bigfoot 50K
Western Reserve Racing's Bigfoot weekend is one of the bigger trail gatherings in eastern Ohio, drawing a deep regional field to Salt Fork State Park in early winter. The 50K is the long option, with 20 mile and 10 mile races the same day and a second 10 mile on Sunday.
Course
The 50K covers three 10.4-mile loops on hiking and bridle trails inside the park, with more than 4,000 feet of total climbing. The horse trails chew up quickly in winter wet, so footing and shoe choice often matter more than fitness on the final loop.
Race-day weather
Early December in eastern Ohio commonly sits between the 20s and 40s, and the trails can hold mud, standing water, or snow. Cold rain is the hardest version of the day, so runners should plan clothing for wet more than for cold.
