About the Crooked Creek Ultra 100 Mile
CK Race Management stages this early-winter trail weekend at the Harry S. Frazier Scout Reservation in Shepherdsville, about 15 minutes from Louisville's airport. The 100 mile anchors a schedule that also includes a 50 mile, day and night marathons and half marathons, and a 5K, on scout camp trails that are closed to the public outside race weekend.
Course
The race repeats a 12.7-mile loop with more than 2,300 feet of elevation gain per lap through hardwood forest around John Barr Lake. Crews can meet runners at the start-finish area and again at a pit road access point three miles into each loop. Cutoffs run 36 hours for the 100 mile and 16 hours for the 50 mile.
Race-day weather
Early December in central Kentucky is genuinely cold, with long nights, temperatures that can sit near freezing, and rain or ice possible. Managing layers and wet feet through the overnight hours matters far more than heat.
