About the Youngstown Ultra Trail Classic
YUT-C is a September fixture for the Ohio trail community, with a 50K flagship and a single-loop 25K on the same trails. Mill Creek Park is a sprawling urban park, so the race feels remote while staying minutes from Youngstown neighborhoods.
Course
The 50K runs two 25K loops that are close to all singletrack, crossing the park's covered bridge and passing the old mill, gorge walls, and Newport Lake. Each loop carries roughly 1,400 feet of climbing, so the second lap is where pacing mistakes surface.
Race-day weather
Mid-September in northeast Ohio usually starts in the 50s and warms into the 70s. Humidity can linger under the tree cover, and the rooty singletrack stays slick for a day or two after rain.
