Course
The marathon starts north of Deception Pass, crosses the bridge on foot, then threads farmland, Silver Lake, and Oak Harbor before dropping to the waterfront finish at Windjammer Park. It is not a fully closed course, so the race rewards runners who can stay alert as well as steady.

Late April on Whidbey Island usually means cool air and a real chance of wind coming off the water. Temperatures are often good for running, but exposed sections can feel very different from sheltered miles.
