About the Vernonia Marathon
Oregon Road Runners Club organizes this established spring race between two small communities west of Portland. Banks is the official finish and event city, even though the marathon begins in Vernonia.
Course
The point-to-point route uses the paved Banks-Vernonia State Trail through wooded and rural surroundings. Its overall descent favors quick running, while gradual changes and trail geometry still reward controlled early pacing.
Race-day weather
April in northwest Oregon can be crisp, rainy and overcast, with slick pavement under tree cover. A cool dry day is possible, but runners should arrive ready for showers and changing temperatures.
