About the Ultra Trail Chianti Castles

Chianti Ultra Trail by UTMB's longest race is a loop through the historic heart of Tuscany. It carries four Running Stones, direct Finals access and Western States Golden Tickets for the leading women and men.

Course

The loop starts before dawn in Radda in Chianti and rolls through vineyard-covered hills, castle country and steep Tuscan trails. Its 123 kilometres and 5,200 metres of ascent allow 26 hours 30 minutes.

Race-day weather

Early spring in Chianti may be cool and damp, with rain turning farm tracks and woodland descents muddy. The 04:00 start also demands cold-weather layers before daytime temperatures rise.
