About the Texas Marathon
This New Year's Day tradition is intentionally simple and runner-focused. Marathoners and half marathoners circle Kingwood's wooded trail network while volunteers maintain frequent aid and a festive finish area.
Course
The certified marathon repeats a flat paved greenbelt loop four times. Familiar aid and terrain help with planning, but turns, path traffic, and the mental effect of repeated laps accumulate.
Race-day weather
Houston-area January weather ranges from cold rain to warm humidity. The shaded greenbelts can stay damp, and a mild start may become uncomfortable by the final loop.
