About the Sugar Land Half Marathon
Sugar Land has grown into a serious fall target for Houston-area runners chasing a time before the winter marathon season. The event runs separate age-group, invitational, and athletes-with-disabilities starts for the half, so the front of the field is genuinely raced.
Course
One loop, mostly right turns, starting and finishing at Smart Financial Centre. Out-and-back sections were removed, so runners get a continuous route with a straight run-in to the finish behind the venue. The terrain is flat throughout.
Race-day weather
Mid-October in the Houston suburbs is still humid more often than not. A 7:00 start helps, but dew points can stay high and the second half can feel warmer than the first once the sun clears the treeline.
