About the Sugar Daddy Half Marathon
Santa Clarita's paseo system is a paved trail network that threads the whole valley away from traffic, and this race uses it end to end. The 6:15 gun time is a concession to June in an inland valley. Half, 10K, 5K, and a kids run all start and finish at the Iron Horse Trailhead off Magic Mountain Parkway.
Course
Almost all of it runs on paved paseo rather than open road. The profile is gentle rather than truly flat: a gradual rise through the first five miles, a quick descent to nine, then a short sharp climb before the final drop across the Iron Horse bridge to the line.
Race-day weather
The Santa Clarita Valley is inland and dry, and June is exactly why the race starts before dawn breaks fully. Expect a comfortable start in the 60s and rising heat with little shade in the later miles once the sun clears the ridgelines.
