About the San Francisco Marathon 2nd Half

The San Francisco Marathon 2nd Half is the city-focused and faster half-marathon option. It starts later in Golden Gate Park, skips the bridge and shares the marathon finish on the Embarcadero.

Course

The route begins in Golden Gate Park, passes the Conservatory of Flowers and Haight Street, then becomes quicker as it heads east toward the waterfront. Its separate start requires a race-morning shuttle or a careful drop-off plan.

Race-day weather

Golden Gate Park can be cool and damp at the later start. The course may feel warmer and brighter as it leaves the park, with waterfront wind becoming a factor near the finish.
